Maverick took out his black card and handed it to the store manager. "Run the card." The manager beamed. "Mr. Cadwell, you truly spoil his wife. This ring is priced at 3.88 million dollars. Mrs. Cadwell is very lucky." Maverick said nothing. His gaze simply stayed on Heidi the entire time. Heidi slipped the ring off and spoke calmly, "Please have it wrapped. Make sure all the certificates are included." He had thought that buying something this expensive, especially at her request, would make her happy, even if only enough for her to lean over and kiss him the way she'd used to. But instead, the money was spent, the ring was bought, and she was still distant. Maverick couldn't help asking, "You bought this just for the certificate?" Heidi replied, "In case you go bankrupt one day or we get divorced, this can still count as hard currency. At least I'll have something to trade for food. Don't you think, honey?" Maverick's expression darkened. Was divorce the only thing on her min
