Chapter 50
Kingston looked at her puffed-up, sulky face. After a few seconds of thought, he picked up the figurine in his hand. "Do you like it that much?"
Vivian nodded vigorously. "I can't even describe how I felt the moment I saw her. I was stunned, and the emotions I felt were so complicated."
It was as if she'd suddenly collided head-on with her own youth.
Her eyes shone brightly, unable to hide her delight.
Under her expectant gaze, Kingston merely placed the figurine back into the display cabinet.
"Some things only prove their value once they disappear," he said.
Vivian felt as if a painful knot tightened around her chest. "It's my design. How could it disappear?"
Kingston closed the cabinet door. "If you hadn't seen it here today, would you have remembered it at all? You've forgotten about it for all these years. Isn't that a kind of disappearance?"
He stood not far away, looking at her with a cold smile on his lips. "It once had a chance to be remembered by far more people."
