A cold and indifferent voice came from diagonally across the aisle. Claire snapped back to reality. She turned her head and met Julian’s eyes. Her face instantly flushed. His sharp, blunt tone hit like a dagger, yanking her right out of her daze and throwing her straight into a frying pan—crispy on the outside, completely mortified on the inside. “Sorry, it won’t happen again,” she mumbled, head lowered. “Let’s hope so.” Julian threw the words out flatly and looked away.
