Viola's face turned a little more serious.
Vincent choked for a second, realizing he couldn’t really hide anything. Chuckling, he put his arm around her and led her toward the garden. “You’re way too sharp, honey. So I’ll just come out with it—if Julian really has feelings for Claire, would you be okay with that?”
Viola stayed quiet.
She couldn't bring herself to say yes.
If it were someone else’s kid, maybe she'd say something like, “Divorce isn’t a big deal these days,” but once it involved her own son, that kind of open-mindedness felt impossible.
She never insisted who he had to marry, as long as the girl had a good character, a clean background, and Julian genuinely liked her—that was enough. It didn’t have to be a perfect match on paper.
