Claire sighed, “All we have is some fruit.”
Julian’s brows relaxed, and he gave a few subtle nods like he got the idea.
Claire figured he was done eating, but then—surprise—he went and made a call for someone to bring over fresh ingredients.

By the time the groceries arrived and she whipped something up, it was already 11 p.m.
Julian, meanwhile, was clearly enjoying it. Watching him scarf it down, Claire started wondering if maybe she’d been underestimating her own cooking skills all along. Heck, maybe she could outdo Kenneth and land herself a spot in the Michelin ranks.
She was beyond tired. Barely slept the night before, and only managed a short nap that afternoon. Now, her eyelids felt like bricks. When she saw Julian head toward the study after dinner, she didn’t even bother asking if he needed anything else—just went straight up, showered, and crashed.
