Chapter 9
I found out Joseph's leg injury came from a racing accident with his buddies. Fortunately, the injury would heal. Otherwise, he'd be bawling about it for years.
"I'm so bored." Joseph groaned dramatically, staring up at the ceiling. "I seriously respect you. You can sit here all day like it's nothing."
Then, he sighed like he was accepting his fate and handed me my lunch for the day.
"I can't do this. If I stay here any longer, I'm going to rot! But my brother won't let me leave. It's so annoying! The doctor has said that I can already walk!"
I looked up at Joseph, who was flailing his arms as he protested. I couldn't help laughing. "Your brother's just worried about you."
"That's not it!" he shot back. "He just has this problem where he has to control everything!"
Still pouting, he slid closer and wrapped himself around my arm, acting spoiled on purpose.
My eyes flicked to the scars on his wrist. I said casually, "You've got a lot of old injuries. It's normal for him to worry."
