Chapter 559
"The firefighter never came back after that."
Tears welled in Joanna's eyes before spilling down her cheeks in heavy drops. "One day, the elderly woman suddenly received a package. Inside was a photograph of the firefighter. She cried for a long, long time.
"I remember there were small words written on the back of the photo. He told me to live well. He said he would always be watching over me from the sky."
By the time she finished speaking, she was sobbing uncontrollably.
Dr. Pierce handed her a tissue and waited for her to calm down before gently asking, "Do you still remember what he looked like?"
Joanne shook her head, tears streaming down her face.
"I was too young. I can't recall his face at all. I just remember he wore an orange firefighter uniform, and there was a badge with a number on his chest."
"A number?"
Dr. Pierce's eyes lit up at this detail, and quickly followed up. "Do you remember what the number was?"
