Chapter 756
Although I didn't particularly enjoy being around Sophia, at least the tension between us was no longer as thick as before. She still spoke harshly, but I had grown used to it.
"Grab coffee with me later," Sophia said just as I was about to head back to my office.
Her direct, commanding tone irritated me, and I immediately furrowed my brow and retorted, "Are you that bored?"
I knew she was an investor who financially backed my company, and technically, she was my boss. But I could never manage to talk to her without getting agitated.
My indifferent tone only seemed to fuel her irritation.
Just as she was about to snap at me again, Joanna stepped in. "Joshua, Sophia is not just our investment partner, but also your ex-wife. They say it's better to make peace than to hold grudges. What's the harm in having coffee with her?"
With that, Joanna walked up to me, adjusted my suit and tie with a gentle smile on her face.
"I trust you," she added.
