Troy's words shocked Thaddeus so much that he completely forgot that I was nowhere to be found, and his mind went blank. "Where did you hear all that from?" he asked Mom was the first to react. She grabbed Troy by the collar and demanded answers, hysterical. Dad didn't say anything, but the confusion on his face was obvious. They had always believed they'd hidden everything perfectly—especially Mom and Dad. They'd practically had me monitored around the clock, and whenever I was out of their view, they'd immediately start calling. "What's going on here?"
