“When are you planning to turn off the lights?” Noah’s voice came through the phone in a low tone the moment I answered. He didn’t even give me a chance to speak first.
I frowned. Did he really call me just to ask about the lights in my room? I knew it was late—already past one in the morning—but was it really such a big deal that he had to call me about it?
“I’ll turn them off in a while,” I said. “I still have work to do.”
I was already feeling sleepy and wanted nothing more than to crawl into bed, but when I checked my email earlier, Jennifer had sent me a document that needed to be translated. We needed it by tomorrow, so there was no way I could sleep yet.
This was Noah’s fault.
