“I didn’t know you were this generous.”
I frowned at Noah, not understanding what he meant. “What do you mean?”
“You just let anyone wear your husband’s slippers. Does Liam know about this?” Noah asked, his tone laced with a hint of suspicion.
I was taken aback, speechless. I hadn’t expected Noah to misinterpret the man’s shoes and slippers in the cabinet. Those shoes didn’t belong to Liam.
I had bought some men’s items and placed them where they’d be visible. As a single mother, I had to be practical. If something were to happen, I had no one else to turn to—Hannah was just a little girl, and Margareth was elderly. I needed to feel a sense of security.
In addition to the slippers, I also had two men’s shirts that I occasionally hung on the balcony with our clothes, hoping it would give the impression that a man lived in the house. The shirts were Liam’s, taken from his wardrobe before he left abroad.
