Hannah was discharged from the hospital, and Noah offered to drive us home.
Once we arrived, Noah helped settle Hannah in the living room, carefully easing her onto the couch so she could lie down comfortably. I went into the kitchen to prepare some fruit for Hannah—and for Noah as well.
I washed the apples and oranges thoroughly, then sliced them into small pieces. I filled a pitcher with water and poured a few glasses, placing everything neatly on a tray before carrying it back to the living room.
I set the plate of fruit, the glasses, and the pitcher of water on the coffee table.
I frowned slightly. When I noticed that Hannah was the only one in the living room.
I glanced around and saw Noah standing on the balcony.
What was he doing there? Was he watching the dead plants?
I had absolutely no talent when it came to raising plants. I’d tried growing succulents and geraniums before, but every single one of them had died. So all Noah could see on the balcony were a few neglected
