Chapter 532 Why Do You People Always Have Delusions Of Victory?
Brock sniped a glance at Zayn’s stupid grin and snickered to himself. Looks like he was facing a guy with a few screws loose!
The call he had made earlier was, unsurprisingly, made to Mr. Rivera. After a brief—but not wanting to exaggerate details—account over the phone, Mr. Rivera had gotten so sufficiently enraged that he promised he would get to where he was as soon as he could.
The thing about Mr. Rivera was that he was one of the upper echelons of Violet Vision Media Corp—a very important man who was worth hundreds of millions in net worth. He was also Brock’s senior and the reason why the latter obtained the opportunity to work in the chairman’s brand-new advertising agency. Mr. Rivera had been the one who introduced Brock’s talent to Sean.
And now, his benefactor was coming to do right. With the man’s temperament and mettle, Brock was sure this Larson guy had no way to run! This was especially since he had a good grasp of how powerful Mr. Rivera was; Brock’s skills could not compare to that man at all.
Besides, Brock had the genius foresight to mention this Larson guy as someone who was annoyingly handy in fighting over the call. Brock was sure that Mr. Rivera would understand his hint and bring more people with him, and when the man and his retinue arrived? Ha, this b*stard was toast!
The only thing Brock had to do right now was to make sure that his target stayed for his punishment at Mr. Rivera’s hands rather than escape. However, from the looks of it, the man was peculiarly showing no desire to run. In fact, he was wearing an insufferably confident smile as he waited!
His stupid grin confounded Brock. On what ground was this idiot’s conceited optimism justified? What, because he could break out a bit of swagger? It was already the twenty-first century. No one’s punch could rival the effortless bang of a gun. This was no longer a world ruled by the sword; it was one governed by the law.
In this era, power came not from how hard you could punch; it came from how high your standing was in a society! To Brock, Zayn’s fate was doomed!
Mary Ann was a great deal more empathetic than the rest of the room. Seeing what had transpired made her worry for Alexandra’s safety, and yet, she balked at the idea of speaking to the young woman directly. So, she resorted to leveling meaningful gazes at her, hoping that Alexandra would catch on and run right this instant when she still had the chance. By the time the bigshot from Violet Vision got here, she would not have the ability to flee at all!
Mary had been friends with Alexandra for years, and no one could be best friends with anyone without knowledge of their background, including their family. She already knew that Alexandra was the Smiths’ darling little girl and was therefore someone who commanded a certain degree of social power. Nonetheless, Violet Vision’s influence simply eclipsed the Smiths! If the chairman became so offended by their crime that he started going after her, then not even Alexandra’s identity as the Smiths’ daughter could save her.
To her frustration, her effort was all in vain. Alexandra seemed to have disregarded her warning by continuing to stand right where she was as she chatted and giggled with Zayn as though they were having a good time. It was just unbelievable!
Mary wondered if her friend had left her brain at home before she came here. Based on what she remembered about Alexandra, that woman would have never chosen an option as stupid as inaction against an impending doom!
She was worrying herself sick over it, yet she could not do anything more to warn her friend—not when she risked making an enemy out of Brock.
“Who’s this Rivera guy, huh? Have I seen him before?” Alexandra asked with a toothy grin without a single lick of anxiety on her face.
What was there to fear? She already knew who Zayn was. Alexandra would have been a bit more scared if Brock had called the police, but if his backup was some guy working for Violet Vision, well, who cared who was coming? The big gun of that very company was right there with her!
Honestly, Alexandra was quite excited to meet Mr. Rivera—simply because she could not wait to see the look on Brock’s face when the “unexpected” happened!
Mary and the rest had been skeptical about her claim, too, had they not? Well, when this supposed bigshot from Violet Vision arrived, the truth would hit them squarely in the face! Just thinking about the fanfare got a woman excited!
Zayn was wearing a smile laced with an intriguing enigma. “I doubt you have. He’s just a small fry among the higher-ups.”
“Oh! Well, he must at least know you, right?” Alexandra sprung on that thought, a little apprehensive. If the man who came turned out to be an employee who was so low in the hierarchy that he had never met Zayn—things could go back to being a little too tricky for her taste.
Fortunately, Zayn’s answer was a relief. “Oh, he knows me.”
