Chapter 15

After Sara hung up the phone, she went upstairs and started packing her stuff. She only had a few items of her own, and it would all fit snugly in a big luggage. Spencer had bought most of the things in the villa, and she didn't intend to take them with her. After that, Sara put her luggage on the headboard and went downstairs. She entered the kitchen to pack up two bags of vegetables to take to the Tiernan residence. It was still early when she arrived there, and Winnifred hadn't even started preparing dinner. This might be the last time Sara would have dinner with Oswin, so she intended to cook for him. After a long while, she finally convinced Winnifred to let her cook. In total, she made seven dishes and a soup, intending to treat Winniefred and Bruce to the vegetables she brought. After dinner, Sara then made up an excuse to turn down Oswin's offer to spend the night in the Tiernan residence and said that she would return to the villa instead. She also rejected Oswin's offer to let the driver send her back. When she was about to leave, Oswin was standing at the gates and waved at her with a warm, heartfelt smile on his face. Upon thinking about how they wouldn't have many chances to see each other anymore, Sara held back her tears, forced herself to smile, and waved back at him. In her heart, she bid Oswin goodbye. … One week later, Sara received a phone call from Wilson Fitzgerald, Spencer's lawyer. He said he would come to the villa with the agreement soon. Eventually, the day she feared had come. Spencer had stopped going back to the villa for the entire week. He had probably been spending his nights at Clementine's place. At the end of the day, her and Spencer had put everything on the table and came to an agreement. So, it no longer mattered where he spent the night. Sara was glad that she wore a loose casual outfit that day when Spencer brought up the divorce. Otherwise, he might've noticed something unusual about her. Wilson arrived at the villa in less than half an hour after he hung up the phone. With such incredible efficiency, he truly lived up to his position as the head attorney at Jetstream Kriton Group. Sara sat across from Wilson as he stared at her. He had only seen her a couple of times even though she was Spencer's wife. As he pulled out the divorce agreement, he prepared himself to explain it to her. After all, Spencer had left her enough assets to last her a lifetime, or maybe even a couple of generations. "Mrs. Tiernan, please go through the agreement first. Then, I will give you a detailed explanation of the divorce assets Mr. Tiernan has left for you." Sara took the agreement and immediately signed it without reading. She didn't want anything from Spencer, but if this was what would make him feel better, then so be it. Wilson was slightly surprised to see that she'd signed the agreement without even turning a page. Was she really not curious about the amount of money Spencer had left her? Nevertheless, as a lawyer, he had faithfully carried out his duty, and it wasn't his place to make any comments. He then pulled out a bank card from his briefcase and handed it to Sara. "Mrs. Tiernan, Mr. Tiernan wanted you to have this. He said the password is your birthday. All of the divorce assets are in it." But Sara didn't take it. "Alright. Thank you for coming all the way here, Mr. Fitzgerald." Wilson placed the card on the coffee table, rose to his feet, and bade farewell to her. "You're welcome, Mrs. Tiernan. The divorce procedure is scheduled for Monday at 9:00 am. Mr. Tiernan will be waiting for you at the courthouse entrance. I'll be taking my leave now." "Okay. Please inform him that I'll be there on time." After Sara sent Wilson away, she pulled out her phone and booked a flight to Heavelis. She might've told Spencer that she would move back to her hometown, but it was just a lie. In truth, she had to plan ahead for the twins in her belly. For the past two days, she had been surfing the Internet and hunting for a place to live. Eventually, she'd found some netizens describing Heavelis as a breezy place with a spectacular view that gave people a deep sense of belonging. The people there were simple and kind-hearted, which made it a fantastic city to live in. Sara intended to find a place where nobody knew who she was. So, she could give birth to her twins and raise them in peace. Spencer might marry Clementine and form a new family with her soon, and they might even have their own children too. Sara didn't want to disturb his new life, and although it would break her heart to walk away from him, she was still deeply grateful to him. After all, he had given her two precious babies, with whom she could call family. … On Monday morning, Sara got to the courthouse earlier than the agreed time. When the clock struck nine, Spencer's car pulled up at the entrance. Sara had made a point to wear an outfit that would conceal her belly so that Spencer wouldn't be able to notice her pregnancy. Before Spencer got out of his car, he saw Sara sitting on a bench by the entrance. Sara rose to her feet when she saw his car pulling over. When he got out of his car and walked toward her, she noticed the exhaustion in his eyes. Just as she was about to blurt out her concern for him, she stopped herself. After all, the divorce procedure was about to be finalized. She should just get it over with instead of dragging it out. With that, Sara and Spencer entered the courthouse and got their divorce certificates. Only a few words were exchanged between them. After Sara took her certificate, she walked through the courthouse's main entrance and left. Then, Spencer called out to her from behind, "Sara, I'll give you a ride home." Sara turned around and put on a smile. "That won't be necessary. Go ahead and get on with your day. I can go back by myself." As they faced each other, Sara finally noticed that Spencer didn't seem to be doing well. She said again, "Look after yourself and make sure you eat on time." "What are you going to do next? Move back to your hometown?" Spencer asked. "Yeah." Then, Sara turned around and walked away. She was scared that she might end up giving in at the last moment after she tried so hard to make herself let go. "When are you going back to your hometown? I'll take you there," Spencer said from behind her. "That'd be too troubling for you. I can get back on my own," Sara stopped walking and responded without turning around. However, instead of going straight to the villa, Sara withdrew the 100 thousand dollars from the card Spencer gave her. Once she got back, she placed it on the work desk in the study. That way, he would see it when he eventually returned to the villa. Then, she grabbed her luggage, called a cab, and went straight to the airport. … Spencer immediately called his friends to hang out at Nightdive after he left the courthouse. When Luke got the call, he decided to bring Wanda and Charlotte along. So, he went to get them first. Meanwhile, Zayn and Hans had already arrived at the bar. By the time they reached, Spencer was already lying on the couch, seemingly from having drunk too much liquor. When they saw the drunken state Spencer was in, Zayn asked, "Did Spencer run into something during his trip to the Namzura region?" Hans glanced at him. Well, Zayn was certainly blunt and bold. Hans then thought about what happened at the Namzura region and responded, "It's possible that his parents' death wasn't an accident after all. "In fact, it seemed to have something to do with his ex-girlfriend. I'm not sure about the details. He didn't give me the specifics." Zayn knew that Spencer had been investigating the case all these years. Zayn had been helping him with it. However, there hadn't been any meaningful development to this day. So, he was genuinely surprised to learn that Clementine had had something to do with it. "He'll tell us about it when he's ready." Then, Zayn took a seat and started drinking too. Without another word, Hans followed suit. Not long after that, Luke showed up with Wanda and Charlotte. After they greeted Zayn and Hans, they saw Spencer lying on the couch with his eyes closed. "What's wrong with Spencer? Why did he call us out for drinks? Is he in a bad place?" Luke asked. Zayn and Hans raised their heads and rolled their eyes at him. Then, they turned around and continued drinking. Luke rubbed his nose, sheepishly sat down, and grumbled to himself. Was Spencer sexually frustrated? Did Sara not satisfy him? Everyone could tell that Spencer wasn't having a good day. Otherwise, he would never have pounded the liquors as hard as he did. The table was littered with empty bottles, and he lay there limply, not saying a word. No one dared to ask him anything either. Later on, Finn arrived too. What was more, he had a lady with him. For the first time ever, he brought a lady to their little get-together, and it shocked everyone to their cores.
