Chapter 173
Sara glanced at the man in front of her, who looked far too much like a sulking child. She sighed and sat down, wondering if he had eaten anything at all.
Sheila mentioned he had been sitting there for quite some time.
She pulled out the bread she had just picked up from the bakery. "Want some?" she asked.
Spencer clutched her hand tightly, as if terrified she would disappear again the second he blinked. He nodded, almost sheepishly. It was obvious he hadn't had a proper meal all day.
Sara glanced around the hotel lobby. It felt oddly improper to sit and eat here like that. "Let's go upstairs. We can eat in the room," she suggested.
Spencer agreed instantly and followed her to the elevator without a word. They returned to the room she had booked earlier.
Once inside, she watched him settle on the small couch and devour every last bite of the bread loaf she had planned to keep for a late-night snack. She grew worried he might choke and walked over to hand him a bottle of water.
