Chapter 207
Clementine's soft voice carried a sorrow that didn't belong in the lively, crowded room. Her eyes shimmered with sadness, delicate and pitiful enough to stir sympathy.
Spencer's gaze was distant and cold, like moonlight through glass. His face remained still and unreadable, and he didn't even bother to look in her direction.
"No. I'm afraid my wife wouldn't be happy."
Just one simple sentence, and Clementine was thrown into despair. She bit her lip, tears welling in her eyes.
Spencer had no interest in continuing the conversation. He picked up his phone and sent a message to Sara on WhatsApp. "Darling, I've been drinking. They're forcing it on me."
