Chapter 67
When they heard Sara's voice getting closer, Cameron quickly stood up, pushed aside the dry grass above, and shouted loudly for Sara.
Sara heard Cameron's voice and ran toward it, overwhelmed with emotion. The others heard it too and followed her.
She found the dried-up well, and Yale rushed over, climbing down to bring the children up. Sara waited at the top and helped lift them out.
Sara was overwhelmed with relief as she hugged both children tightly, crying as she held them. Yale gently patted her on the shoulder to comfort her. "Sara, it's okay. You found them. They're safe now."
Sara loosened her grip and held their faces in her hands, carefully inspecting them. Cameron had scratches on his face and hands, and both their clothes were torn. It was clear they had suffered a lot.
"Mommy finally found you. Besides the cuts on your face, are you hurt anywhere else?" she asked anxiously.
"I'm fine, Mom. But Nora twisted her ankle when she jumped out the window," Cameron said.
