Chapter 3
Over the next few days, Parker didn't come back, and there wasn't even a message.
Cornelia sat at her dressing table, her eyes still red and swollen.
Suddenly, the phone on the table next to her lit up several times, and the ringtone sounded repeatedly, seemed the person was urgently.
Cornelia slowly came to her senses and hurriedly answered the call.
"Madam! You must hurry back to the old mansion and persuade Mr. Greene and Mrs. Greene! If this continues, Master will be beaten to death!”
As soon as Cornelia stepped into the Greene Family mansion, she heard Mr. Greene’s furious voice.
“Bastard! The Greene Family will never allow an illegitimate daughter to enter our home!”
The whip cracked loudly, striking his body with a dull thud, instantly tearing open the skin.
“Cornelia has similar family background as yours, and she’s loved you for so long. You’re already married. Hurry up and send Edith abroad. Don’t let her show her face in front of Cornelia and sully her eyes!”
Parker stood straight, letting the whip beat his back until it was a bloody mess.
He stared straight ahead, his cold face now filled with determination.
“Even if you kill me today, I will stay with Edith.”
Mr. Greene was nearly driven to madness with anger, using all his strength to whip Parker until he was covered in blood, resembling a blood-soaked figure.
“If you want to be with Edith, how about Cornelia?”
“I have never loved Cornelia. I wouldn’t love her after a year of marriage, I wouldn’t love her after three years of marriage, and I will never love her.”
Parker grunted a few times, but his words remained firm.
“If you hadn’t threatened me with Edith’s life, I would never have married Cornelia! You chose Cornelia, not me!”
Cornelia heard all this, as if a bucket of cold water had been poured over her from head to toe, leaving her feeling as though she had fallen into an ice cellar.
So that’s why Parker married her?
All this time, she had been deluding herself.
Cornelia trembled so violently she could barely stand.
Suddenly, her phone rang. Fearing be discoveried, she answered it immediately and quickly ran away.
On the other end of the line was a familiar, playful voice.
“Sister, it’s been ages!”
“All these years, and you still haven’t grown up at all!”
“You and your mother are both useless. Your mother couldn’t compete with my mother, and now you can’t compete with me either.”
Edith laughed mockingly.
“What do you want?”
Cornelia clutched the phone tightly, trying to keep her voice steady.
“There’s a new coffee shop on North Street. Let’s meet there and catch up. As for what we’ll talk about, I think you’ll be interested once you come.”
Before Cornelia could say anything else, Edith hung up the phone.
Edith eventually went to the meeting,
but as soon as she stepped through the door of the coffee shop, she was knocked unconscious.
When she woke up, Cornelia found herself and Edith bound together, locked in an abandoned factory.
“Edith, what are you trying to do?”
“Nothing much. I just want to see how much Parker truly loves me, and how worthless you are!”
Edith mocked Cornelia for overestimating herself, then ordered the kidnappers to call Parker.
Soon, Parker arrived as quickly as he could.
He had just been whipped by Mr. Greene, his face pale, his forehead covered in fine beads of sweat, and blood trickling down his back with each movement.
“Here’s the money you wanted. It’s all here. Let them go!”
As soon as he entered, Parker threw the box he had brought to the kidnappers.
But the kidnappers’ knives flickered, their cold blades lingering on Edith and Cornelia’s faces.
“That’s not possible. That price was half an hour ago.”
“Now, this money can only take one of them. The other one has to satisfy us and let us have some fun~”
“Absolutely not! I’ll have the money delivered immediately! Release both of them!”
Parker’s face turned dark with anger. If he hadn’t been severely injured, he wouldn’t have been so passive.
Just then, one of the henchmen deliberately touched Edith’s face with a lecherous look in his eyes, making a disgusting sound.
Edith was startled and couldn't stop her tears.
“Parker, save me! Save me...”
Seeing this, Parker's face turned pale, and he could only order them to release Edith first, then he quickly left with Edith in his arms.
Edith won.
She won completely.
