Chapter 29 The Rivalry
Nancy was stunned. She quickly called for the manager, who appeared moments later.
"Oh, my apologies! I forgot to mention. Unfortunately, we won't be able to serve you tonight. The entire venue has been booked out," the manager revealed.
"Mr. Miller, I made this reservation with you a long time ago," Nancy said, her voice growing cold.
"Ms. Moore, you have to understand that I'm just an employee," Lawrence Miller, the manager, replied helplessly.
Then, his face lit up when he spotted Winter. "Ms. Seabourne, you're here."
"Yes," Winter answered, casting an indifferent glance at Nancy and her group.
In a languid drawl, she added, "Make sure my people have a good time tonight. I don't want any riff-raff coming in."
"Of course, Ms. Seabourne. Everything's ready," Lawrence said obsequiously.
A sharp glint flickered in Nancy's eye.
It was obvious Lawrence and Winter had been in on it together, and he'd intentionally kept her in the dark.
Rebecca gave them a smug, disdainful look.
