mark beneath her eye was now turning into a purple bruise and I felt a surge of anger at the man who had dared to put his hands on her. It was coupled with my frustration that she had been reckless enough to put herself in danger like that.
I didn’t know the full story yet, and I would wait until we got to the house before I got the truth from her.
I’d been in a meeting when the receptionist had interrupted me to tell me my wife was on the phone. I’d thought it was someone playing a prank at first.
