Chapter 39 The Youthful Spirit Fades
Evelyn scooped up some food with her spoon and ate it. Before she could even swallow, her stomach started to churn.
She didn't even make it to the bathroom. She grabbed a trash can and threw up violently.
Evelyn hadn't eaten much tonight. All she threw up was bile.
Hugo was in the study next door. He had just returned home, showered, and gotten changed. When he saw her vomiting, he went to get her a glass of warm water.
He got closer, with a smirk playing on his lips. "What now? Not even pretending anymore?"
Seeing him acting all prim and proper made her see red, and she huffed in anger. "It's true. The sight of you makes me sick. Happy?"
Hugo was at a loss. He had no idea where her sudden temper came from.
Unusually patient, he tried to soothe her. "I don't care if that's true. Have some water first."
Evelyn ignored Hugo with a pout. After some time, she realized she was coming off a little too coquettish, so she took the glass and had a big gulp of water.
