Chapter 14 Come On Baby!

Cecelia wanted to find out if everyone received the same treatment as she did. As she stepped out of the office, she was stumped. There were a lot of rooms around, but no indication of its purpose. She did not know which room to knock on, let alone who would be inside. If she knocked on the wrong door— But if she did not find out, she could not eat in peace. If she could not eat the food, she could not help looking at the tasty and wholesome food beckoning to her. What a dilemma! She had never experienced such a dilemma! Just as her hair was about to turn gray from said dilemma, Linda appeared. “Miss Shayne, why aren’t you eating? Is the food not up to standard?” “No, that’s not it,” Cecelia was embarrassed. “Linda, are the employee benefits of the company the same for everyone?” For some strange reason, Cecelia could not help feeling uneasy about it. She did not do anything to deserve this, but she had received such wonderful treatment. It was simply too good to be true! She never thought something like this could make her feel so disturbed. Linda’s eyes flickered and she laughed, “Look at me, I forgot to mention it to you. Our company is currently running an event. A lucky person will be selected by a lucky draw, and that lucky person will enjoy the highest privilege from the company.” Cecelia pointed at her own nose, “So what you’re saying is that I’m that lucky person?” “That’s right. You’ve been chosen, and that’s why you’ve been enjoying such privilege,” Linda smiled graciously. “You’re so lucky to have been chosen on your very first day!” Cecelia chuckled too, albeit a little foolishly, “Haha, I’m relieved then.” For the rest of the day, no matter what strange things happened, Cecelia took everything in stride. Even when it was time to get off work, a luxury car was said to be responsible for sending her to and from work, she accepted the gesture as one of the privileges of being the ‘lucky person’. Cecelia was in high spirits after enjoying the day as the ‘lucky person’, she hummed a tune as she entered the house. She could not wait to share the good news with William Sandler. William could not be found in the living room or kitchen, so Cecelia ran into the bedroom without even taking off her shoes. “Pretty boy, pretty boy, where are you?” She called out as she ran, but there was no one in the bedroom, or the bathroom, or the lavatory. “Where did he go?” Cecelia mumbled. At first, Cecelia did not think too much about it, assuming he was out throwing the trash or buying groceries. When she had waited in the living room for two hours and there was still no sight of him, however, she started worrying. “Did that guy run away from home?” The more she thought about it, the more likely it seemed. Cecelia hurried to check out the closet and found that the clothes she told him to return were gone. “He really ran away?” Staring at the half-emptied closet, Cecelia felt more despondent than angry. Although she had thought about divorcing him when he spent money lavishly, but… She could fool everyone else, but not herself. That was just an empty threat. She never imagined herself separated from him, never thought he would ever leave quietly like this. Looking at the empty room, Cecelia’s mind was full of William’s images walking around the house. Unknowingly, tears welled up in her eyes. “B*stard, if you really wanted to leave, you could at least say something. How could you leave without saying goodbye?” Cecelia sniffed. “You’re nothing but a liar, b*stard! Forget it, leave then, at least there won’t be a leech around me anymore, sucking me dry.” Even so, Cecelia still felt dejected. Just a few days ago, no matter how late she got home, he would be waiting for her, and there would be hot soup and hot food waiting on the table. But now… “Cecelia Shayne, you’re all alone again.” ’Lucky person’ Cecelia Shayne felt she was no longer lucky, hugged her knees and sat on the couch, enduring the boundless sense of loneliness. Unaware of the time passing, Cecelia, who fell asleep on the couch, was suddenly awakened by the sound of the door clicking open. When she saw William standing by the doorway, Cecelia’s alert but slightly drowsy eyes were instantly replaced with surprise. Leaping down from the couch, Cecelia pounced on him. “Pretty boy, you didn’t leave after all!” Cecelia clung to William like a koala. Her joy was insurmountable. A glint of ominous light flashed across the fathomless eyes, and a deep voice escaped from William’s beautiful lips, “Leave? Why leave?” “Where did you go then?” Cecelia maintained her position, still clung on William, and stared into his dazzling, mesmerizing gaze, “I didn’t see you when I got off from work. Your clothes are gone too. I thought you ran away from home while I was not around!” William heard the slight grievance in her soft voice that even she might not be aware of, stared at the little pink face, and his eye darkened, “Don’t worry, I won’t go anywhere.” Just as Cecelia was about to reply, he added, “At least, not until I found another woman willing to take care of me, I won’t!” Her mood took a hundred and eighty degrees turn, and she blurted uncontrollably, “How many women did you have before me?” “Don’t know.” Cecelia glared, “Don’t know, or won’t tell?” William cocked an eyebrow, his expression thoughtful, and spoke after a brief pause, “Too many, uncountable.” Cecelia was so angry that she laughed instead, “How thick-skinned can you be, saying something so shameless without being embarrassed at all.” Cecelia felt her brain must have been kicked by a donkey, for her to be upset over someone like this, whom she thought had left without a word. He should leave. Immediately. At once. Come on baby! Thinking of this, Cecelia pushed at William, trying to distance herself from him, but… “Let go!” Cecelia glared angrily at William, who had hooked his arms around her waist. Not only did William not let go, he carried her and walked inside. “What are you doing?” Cecelia struggled. “Let go of me, I can walk myself.” William acted as if he could not hear her, carried her to the bedroom and put her on the bed. As soon as Cecelia touched the bed, she crawled to the far end with a guarded expression, “What are you going to do?” William remained silent. “Ah!” Cecelia quickly begged. “Pretty boy, let me take back the words about you being thick-skinned. For such a pretty boy like you, it’s an honor to take care of you!” “What about you?” The black eyes looked at her calmly. “Me, I feel honored too.” To hell with being honored, unlucky would be more like it. She had said all the things she thought he wanted to hear, but it did not seem to work. Abruptly, William’s handsome face approached her. Subconsciously, Cecelia closed her eyes, her lips tightly clamped shut. However, William did not kiss her as she thought, but said in a low voice beside her, “Getting married to, you’re the first!”
