Chapter 12
Instinctively, Stefan wanted to tear the divorce papers in his hands to shreds. But then it struck him—this might be the last thing Alyssa had left him. If he destroyed it, even this final remnant of her presence would be gone.
Again and again, his fingers traced over Alyssa's name on the paper, his eyes brimming with longing.
"Lyssa, I've done you wrong. I shouldn't have been with another woman. I only love you! You can hit me, yell at me, anything you want, but please, don't leave me. I can't live without you, Lyssa…" Stefan kept muttering apologies until his voice grew hoarse.
But the person who should have heard them wasn't there. It was futile, no matter how much he apologized.
"Alyssa, I haven't signed the papers yet. That means we're not divorced. We're still married. I will find you!" His eyes hardened with determination as he spoke resolutely.
There was no way Stefan would let Alyssa go. She belonged to him. He was willing to admit his mistakes, but he would never accept
