Cassian woke up in the hospital. He'd suffered a severe concussion and had been unconscious for a week. The first person he saw was his mother, Lydia Warren. Her face was filled with worry, but the moment she saw he was awake, her expression darkened. "Cassian, I always thought you were a good man, unlike your bastard of a father. But now… you've truly disappointed me." Lydia reprimanded, "I know everything about what happened with Naomi. You're the one who wronged her. Don't go looking for her again. She'll never forgive you, not in this lifetime." Cassian's hands trembled under the blanket. A dull ache spread through his chest. He shook his head firmly. "No. I'm going to find her. I'll make things right. I'll bring her back to me." He couldn't let go of the years they'd spent together. He admitted to being at fault.
