CHAPTER FOUR

PAYBACK? Dinner with her father was mentally exhausting, and she was lucky to have Christian by her side. He did all the talking and seemed not to mind her father's blabbering at all. It was no secret that her father liked Christian. He loved the young man like he was his own son, despite the fact that he was his bestfriends' fruit. Sometimes, Emily believed that one of the reasons why he treated Christian with so much love was because he had no son of his and his only daughter was at times, a proud introverted person. Not that he could blame her though, the fault was all his. He would take Christian with him most times to play golf or go on business trips and never for once did Christian reject his call. "Christian would make a perfect husband for you," He had once said. That was six months ago when he decided to let Emily know that he wanted a union between the two youths. It was one of those father-daughter moments they rarely had over the phone. "He is kind, caring, handsome, and not to mention, an excellent business man. Look how he runs his father's business? He is everything I'm looking for in a son in law. When Grant and I finally leave our companies in both your hands, we'd want the two of you to merge and run the companies together, while we go for the vacation we so badly need." "Wow. You've planned everything out already." she mumbled with the tiniest hint of interest audible in her voice. "Do you have a boyfriend?" came her father's gruff reply. She scoffed and mumbled a dry, "No." "Do you plan on getting married any time soon?" "No." "How about kids, you want them yet?" Her father was finally going crazy. Since when did he start growing interest in her personal or love life? "What are you trying to say dad?" "My lovely daughter, you're intelligent when it comes to business and all, but I think you're a complete zero when it comes to love." she wasn't there, but she could picture the smile on her father's face as he said those words. "Your mother— ah! I loved her. I loved her more than I loved my growing business at that time. We were teenagers when we first met. It was true love." Emily's interest sparked at this. She knew her father loved her mother, but he rarely spoke about her. The memories - he would say, were too painful to talk about. So the fact that he had brought her mother up, lit something in her. "We dated for a few years and got married the moment we clocked our twenties. And when she was conceived with you, oh the joy I felt in my heart. Emily, you were my priceless jewel. You still are." his voice was soft and sad, Emily swallowed the lump forming in her throat. "Yes, I worked you hard when you were still young. I did my best to be there for you, I even banished the thought of getting married again, for your sake. I didn't want you to get hurt by those little boys around. The world was - is evil, and I would do anything to protect my baby girl. I decided to make you busy with your time, by doing something important and meaningful, like studying. Not clubbing or partying. I wouldn't allow that. Now, look, you've grown into a perfect woman with so much intelligence, and now, you need a perfect man by your side. I can promise you that Christian would make the perfect husband for you. He's shown a lot of interest in you these past few months, just give him a try. If you wanna date first, then go ahead, but he is the kind of man I want you to bring home for me as a son in law." Emily hated it when her dad went all soft. Where was the selfish businessman in him?! The man that acted like he cared more about his business than his eight year old daughter. Marriage had never been an option for her. Heck, she had only one boyfriend while she was in the University, and the relationship lasted for just a month. A month which involved just sex, and boring sex for that matter. To top it all, her ex was an asshole. Not faithful at all. How could he screw her in a minute and the next, was driving his stupid cock into another bitch? Work was everything she needed. She was fine with just working and Drew, but if her dad really wanted it, she'd go along with his plans to get him off her back. He was just being polite over the phone, but Emily knew her old man, he would do anything to make sure he gets what he wants. Plus, the marriage was going to be a bonus for her. She couldn't remember the last time she had sex, so she was getting a free husband and free sex she didn't work hard to find. Besides, if the guy got too overbearing and became a nuisance in her life, she could always call off the wedding at the last minute or divorce him if they were already married. "Fine. I'll do it." she said. "You'll date him?" for the first time, she heard excitement in the old man's voice and she scoffed. "I'll marry him." ¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤ Turns out that the only thing Christian had in common with her ex boyfriend, Alex, was the boring sex. But Christian was way better because he lasted more in bed. She would never deny the fact that he was a good lover, he knew how to get her wet and cum, but she needed him to spice things a notch up. How much would it take for him to do that? Nothing. The guy could take after Jesus. Holy as Fuck. No matter how busy he was, he would always make time for her, buy her gifts, put a smile upon her face. When they had sex, he would kiss her feet up, all the way to her lips. He would bathe and refresh himself in her sweet juices after he had worked her to orgasm, but he never allowed her to get down on him, well, at least her first boyfriend did, and he would always cum the moment her tongue came in contact with his cock. Sensitive as her damn nipples. Thankfully, Dinner came to an end, and she just couldn't stop thanking God the moment they stepped into the car and Christian zoomed away. Now, on a bright Sunday afternoon, she had nothing to do. Her father had told her to take a break from work and focus on her approaching wedding. He said he'd take over for her and run things till the wedding was done and dusted. She had declined to this immediately. Staying away from work would render her completely useless. With the help of Christian, though he supported her dad, they managed to convince him to leave her work for her. She told him that she could always work on both her wedding and job at the same time. She remembered the way his face had twisted into a frown but at the end, he gave in. He did, however, say he would still help her out with the company, therefore, reducing her numerous tasks at hand and leaving for her some free days, like today. Instead of calling her wedding planner and going over the details of her wedding like any good bride would do, she picked up her phone and dialed Drew's number. Two rings was all it took for Drew to pick up the phone. "Hey baby, what's up?" A large smile broke out on her lips. Drew was a life saver and a joy bringer. "Wanna hang out today?" she ignored her question, and asked. "Don't you have work today? I thought you worked liked every twenty-four hours?" she could hear the mockery loud and clear in her friend's voice. "Well, I've got a wedding coming up. It won't plan itself." "Yes, but a wedding planner would." Drew said. "My wedding planner has left five missed calls on my phone since the day started, I think she's gonna quit soon. I also think I can do better things with my free time than sit down with some woman while looking through a bunch of wedding books, and pretending to be awed or laugh when she points at something." Emily heard Drew sigh through the speaker. The girl's voice became calm and serious. "You obviously don't want this wedding, so why are you going through with it?" Emily huffed silently and let her mind wander for a few minutes before saying, "I don't know. I really don't know." "I'm sure Christian would understand if you told him. He's really nice, you know that." "Yeah yeah. Enough of that!" Emily exclaimed, mischief replaced her gloomy voice. "I'm not in the mood to plan a wedding, but you know what I'm in the mood for?" she grinned. "Finally! A strip party!" Drew joked, drawing laughter from both of them. "Nah, not ready for that yet. I'm ready for some booze right now though. Wanna come over?" "Oh—" Drew's voice was barely a whisper. "What's wrong?" Emily asked worriedly. "So uhm— Jameson and I had an engagement today, I was actually getting ready for it before, but I could always let it go for my bestie. I'll just tell him to meet up some other time!" "No no no. Don't do that sweetie. I understand. Take your time and enjoy that fine ass piece of meat but meeting him again? I thought it was a one time thing?" Emily grinned. "Well, it turned out to be more." Emily could swear Drew winked at that particular minute. She was happy for her friend and really hoped Jameson was the man for her. Back in high school, she had the biggest crush on the dude and now he's asking her out on dates. Drinking was not really Emily's thing, especially drinking alone, but she felt the great urge to partake in the habit for the night. "Okay, why don't we do this? You go to X hale and mingle with a few people there, have a little, and by little, I mean little drink! Cause I know you don't like drinking alone, and I'll meet you there immediately my date with Jameson is over." "And will that date ever end?" Emily laughed, Drew's giggles filled her ears. "Definitely. We could always have sex tomorrow." ¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤ How nasty do people get in clubs? Emily pondered on these thoughts as she watched people grind against each other on the dance floor. From where she was seated, in the VIP section, she dialed Drew's number again, but it led her straight to voice mail. "And she said they could have sex tomorrow." she smiled lightly to herself. Emily was still on her first glass of wine, it had alcohol in it, and she didn't want to get drunk, seeing as she had no one to drive her home. And Drew had personally warned her to take only a little. As the music boomed from the speakers, she felt her phone vibrate and light up. On the screen, Christian's name popped up, she didn't think twice about it before ignoring it. After a while, the call ended, but a second later, the screen lit up again with a text notification. It was from Christian. "Hey, are you alright? I've been calling Drew and she isn't picking up, you're also not answering my calls, I hope you both are fine? The wedding planner called and told me you ignored her calls today. Is there any problem? Call me when you've read this text. Love you." Emily hadn't told a lie when she talked with Drew about not knowing why she accepted to marry Christian. It wasn't like she was forced with a gun pointed to her head, so why had she consented to it? She had pleased her dad enough, done everything he asked but could it be that deep down, she still wanted to please him? Be the perfect daughter? A few guys walked her way and whistled over the loud music. "Hey baby, need some company there? You seem pretty lonely." the one in the middle said, there were three of them. Two were light skinned, and the other had dark brown skin. The dark skinned guy was the one who asked the question. Emily threw her head to the side as politely as she could, though a few people would call it rude but it was all she could do to stop herself from spitting out vile words at them. When they felt like they had made enough fools of themselves by talking to a woman who pretended not to notice them, they walked away with a scowl on their faces. After an extra ten minutes of waiting, Emily decided to leave for her house. She grabbed her purse, along with her car keys and walked out. ¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤ There's nothing more refreshing than the smell of cool clean air. Away from the odour of alcohol and smoke, Emily strode calmly to her Benz. While driving, she noticed a male figure walking along the road side. He was dressed in a simple black t-shirt and ripped jeans, the wind played with his hair as he walked without paying attention to the world around him. He seemed so free and calm, like he was one with the night, like he enjoyed the comfort of the dark sky lit up by the bright stars and the glimmering light emanating from the tall street light poles. The sight looked so familiar, she felt like she had seen something like this before, or was it a Deja Vu? For some odd reason unknown to her, Emily slowed down the pace of her car and came to a complete stop where the man had also gone still. No, she definitely did know this person from somewhere, but where exactly? The light from her car and the street poles brought to her view so clearly, the man's behind. Thick black spirals made their way up his hands and travelled under his shirt, where they disappeared, but they were once more visible on his neck. Emily knew this man. Finally, he turned to face her and she gulped down. Her eyes scanned his height, his Adonis - like body structure, and damn, she thought he was one hell of a man. He squinted his eyes while bending his back down a bit, and tried staring past the bright lights that shone from her car to see the crazy maniac who had stopped driving only to stare at him. A kind of recognition lit up in his eyes and Emily thought she saw him smirk, but maybe she was mistaken. He straightened up, shook his hands deeper into his pockets before saying, "What the fuck is wrong with you and the staring?"
