As soon as Marcus' confession left his lips, Cynthia could clearly hear her own breathing fall out of rhythm. This was a development she never dared to imagine. However, Marcus had immediately reached out to her after learning of the incident involving the Stutton family, asking her if she wanted to work together. He'd even come up with the idea of getting her to gatecrash his marriage as an excuse to avoid his own and gone to great lengths to collect enough evidence to help her get Edward out of prison. Considering everything he'd done for her, Cynthia had no choice but to believe him no matter how much she hesitated to do so. "So, why don't you give me a chance?" Marcus asked. "I'll have you know I'm far more interesting than that blockhead Damian." He smiled lazily, but there was a subtle hint of nervousness in his eyes. Cynthia smiled at that. She didn't hate Marcus. On the contrary, she even owed him a debt. Now that she was his wife, she would try getting to know him again.
