Chapter 896 This Goddamned Woman
Ivanka sat with her back facing that door’s direction, so she did not see the newly arrived customers. Meanwhile, Tanya kept her head down, as if she was pondering over something.
Neither of them had noticed the two figures at the door.
But those two people spotted Tanya and Ivanka seated opposite each other right away.
Ivan was amused. He pointed to them. “Look who I’ve just seen?”
Michael pressed his lips together. Naturally, he had seen what Ivan saw.
Ivan smiled. “Why don’t we share a table with them?”
Michael immediately frowned. He disliked butting in on the women’s conversation. It was ungentlemanly.
But even with this thought in mind, he did not move. His instinct obeyed his desire, as if waited for Ivan to talk him into it.
Ivan was speechless.
He forced a faint smile. Michael always managed to drive him speechless. Ignoring his friend, Ivan made a beeline in Tanya and Ivanka’s direction.
“Hey, what a coincidence. I didn’t think we’d run into each other here?”
Ivan was loud, and Tanya immediately looked up at him. Before she said anything, she spotted the elegant man behind her.
Tanya’s heart skipped a beat. Michael was here!
Did he know that she approached Ivanka with ulterior motives? Did he learn of their meeting and rush over to protect Ivanka?
At that moment, Tanya no longer felt like the composed, intelligent woman everybody thought she was. On the contrary, she was so nervous that she wanted to get out of here.
But she could not bring herself to leave when Michael was around.
Ivanka recognized Ivan’s voice and turned around slowly. When she saw Michael behind Ivan, she furrowed her eyebrows slightly and said flatly, “Coincidence?”
Michael halted in his tracks. “This goddamned woman!” He thought. He knew that she would not say anything nice to him!
Tanya was a little surprised. She could sense that Ivanka was speaking to Michael.
She glanced at Ivanka and smiled at the two men. “What a coincidence indeed.”
Ivan immediately laughed aloud. “Yeah, indeed!”
As he spoke, he walked over and sat down next to Tanya before she objected.
“It must be fate that brought us together today. Why don’t we all dine together?” Ivan gave a toothy grin and spoke like they were all friends.
Tanya was stunned.
She did not want to sit next to him.
Ivanka frowned and said nothing.
But Ivan waved at Michael. “Are you even a gentleman if you leave the pretty ladies here? Come over! Their food is served. You know I have stomach problems. I’m famished, so I can’t afford to wait.”
It sounded like a threat. Ivan implied that if they left, his stomach would suffer.
Michael furrowed his brows, but he eventually went over to the seat opposite Ivan and sat down beside Ivanka.
Seeing them, the server added two sets of cutlery and served the rest of the ordered items as well.
As Ivan stared at the food before him, he said with satisfaction, “There are only two of you, yet you ordered so much food. You must have predicted that we’d be here, right?”
Tanya forced an awkward smile. “You’re so funny, Mr. York.”
She was uncomfortable with the fact that he was sitting right next to her. Instinctively, she looked up at Michael, who sat diagonally across the table. But he did not even spare her a look. He wore an impassive expression, which upset her. Even so, she was still madly in love with him.
Ivanka had already picked up her spoon. She did not intend to converse with anyone at the table because she liked none of them.
Michael lifted his cutlery as well. When Ivanka started eating while ignoring him, his gaze turned frigid.
