Chapter 10
"Are you really... going to get a divorce?" Wendy looked up at Yves, her pale lips trembling slightly, though a flicker of joy danced in her eyes. She threw herself into his arms. "I thought... I'd never get the chance to be with you again in this lifetime."
Yves froze for a second before wrapping his arms around her thin shoulders. He was well aware that he liked Wendy and wanted to marry her, but there was an inexplicable, dull ache in his chest.
He massaged his temple, assuming it was because he hadn't gotten a wink of sleep all night. That had to be why his emotions felt so out of control.
"Get some rest," he murmured and gently patted Wendy's back. "Once you're feeling better, we'll get married."
As soon as the doctor walked in, Daphne asked, "How's my daughter?"
"Don't worry. Physically, there's nothing wrong with the patient. She mainly fainted due to shock," the doctor said, taking off his stethoscope. "We'll keep her overnight for observation, and if all looks good tomo
