Chapter 16
Miles sensed something was off. As he helped Margaret sit up, his usual tender gaze grew serious.
"Margaret, you seem very protective about your legs. You were like this too after the car accident. Can you tell me why?"
He had a feeling there was more to this than met the eye. There had to be something tying them all together beyond mere coincidence.
Margaret stared at him in a daze. Was it so obvious that he saw through her already?
She contemplated telling him but wondered if he would even believe her. After all, being told she was reliving her second life would just sound like a ridiculous, fabricated story.
Noticing that Margaret was hesitant, Miles didn't press her. He simply waited in quiet patience. He knew that when she was ready, she would tell him eventually if she wanted to.
In the end, Margaret shook her head. "I'll tell you next time. Can you walk me home?"
At that, the doctor, who had been silent all this while, finally spoke, "Young lady, his injuries are worse
