Amelia was even more troubled by the man's age. He was clearly not in the same stage of life as Lennie, and seeing him in person only deepened her concern. It made her realize how serious Marcus' warnings were.

"Calm down. Don't scare yourself before we know the full story. Lennie is an adult. She knows what she's doing. You know Helen better than anyone else. Maybe it's not what we think. Don't get ahead of yourself," he said, his tone rational and measured.
