Chapter 8

“What did you say, b*tch?” Lucy looked ferocious, and it felt as though she was about to hit the maid. Harry grabbed her wrist and gave her a hard slap. “Do you think you haven’t embarrassed yourself enough?!” He felt like he had lost all the face in his life tonight. He looked at Lucy and Ava in disappointment. He then said, feeling pain, “I don’t think I have ever mistreated the two of you, yet you did something like that. You’ve disappointed me! If that's the case, the Bennetts can’t have you! Move out tomorrow!” Ava’s body became wobbly, and her face paled. How had it all come to this? According to her plan, Isla should have been kicked out of the Bennett family. How had she and her mother ended up being kicked out? No… She could not live with not being the first daughter of the Bennetts! “Dad! I admit my mistake, I really do! Please don’t kick me out!” Ava was sobbing. She kneeled clumsily and begged. “My life with my mom was hard. I didn’t have my father. You’re the one who made me feel fatherly love. You’re my father. Please don’t abandon me!” Lucy quickly kneeled too. She grabbed Harry’s hand while sobbing. “I admit my mistake, Harry. I was blinded by greed. I wouldn’t dare do that again. Can you forgive me?” Harry’s heart suddenly softened when he saw them crying. He had abandoned them to marry his wife before, which was why he had been trying to make it up to them all these years. He had never thought the pure and good woman he used to know would end up like this. Isla looked at Harry and suddenly spoke. “Dad, if I had failed to prove my innocence earlier but had knelt to beg you, would you have forgiven me?” No. That answer instinctively popped into his mind. He looked at his daughter before him, suddenly feeling guilty and unfamiliar with her. He glanced coldly at Ava and said in his deep voice, “Since you made a mistake, you must bear the consequences. Move out and reflect on this properly!” Lucy rolled her eyes and almost fainted. Ava crawled over to beg again, but Harry did not even look at her. He turned around with a grim face and left the ballroom swiftly. Ava fell weakly to the ground. The mother and daughter looked beaten and they were both clumsy. Everyone surrounded them to criticize them. “So shameless. They ruined someone’s family, yet they still wanted to frame them. They deserve to be kicked out!” “That’s right! Look at her. Can she even compare to Ms. Isla?” “She wishes…” Ava looked down and clenched her teeth. Hatred was burning inside of her. It was all that b*tch Isla’s fault. She was the one to blame! She was Harry’s daughter too. Why did she have to be kicked out?! Isla was such a b*tch! “Unwilling to yield?” Isla bent to grab Ava’s face. She was happy to see her distorted expression. “Don’t worry, this is just the beginning. I’ll take everything that you owe me back one by one!” She conveniently slapped her after she was done and left casually. Noah, who was in the VIP room, smirked as he stared at Isla’s cold figure on the screen. Scott happened to see that when he came in. He could not help but tease him. “Why didn't you show yourself since you care so much about her? Why are you hiding here with all the surveillance?” The smile at the corner of Noah’s lips instantly disappeared. He said coldly, “When did you see me care?” Scoff conveniently grabbed himself a glass of wine. He looked at him while leaning on the table, teasing him. “Why are you here if you don’t care? You even agreed to set up surveillance by the stairs. You’re lying!” “Andrew, call Mr. Fletcher–” “Pfft… Cough…” Scoff wiped the wine at the corner of his lips and scoffed. “I just helped you, yet you’re so quick to betray me. No wonder Isla likes that brat. Look at you–” Noah glanced at him coldly, a clear gesture that he should shut up. “She deserves to be your wife. You didn't see the mother and daughter’s faces–” Noah interrupted him coldly. “She will no longer be my wife soon.” “What are you talking about? Are you guys really getting a divorce?” Scott stopped fooling around and frowned. “Mm-hmm.” Noah picked up his coat from the couch and left. “What’s happening?” Scott looked at Andrew. The latter shook his head and went after Noah. When Isla returned to the villa, she could not wait to tell him what had happened tonight. She had an indescribable, lost feeling when she opened the door and saw the empty bedroom. She had never wanted to see Noah so much before. Her eyes lit up, and she seemed to recall something. She ran downstairs, then went up again after speaking to the maid… Noah’s eyes became cold when he did not see the person he was familiar with when he returned to the villa. “Madam isn’t home?” Recalling what Isla had said, the maid instantly said, “She’s home. She’s in the room–” As he looked away and walked upstairs, she quickly said, “She didn't look too good when she got home. I’m not sure if she’s upset or ill. Do you want to check on her?” He said nothing and went upstairs. He was passing by the room when he recalled what the maid had said. He hesitated before he walked into the room. She was not in there, so it was silent. He frowned. Just as he was going out, he suddenly heard the sound of something heavy falling into water. A woman’s scream followed. “Isla!” He opened the bathroom door and quickly went in. Isla lay in the bathtub, her face pale. Her fair skin was like jade, and she looked charming. Noah’s eyes turned dark. He gulped and grabbed the towel off the rack to cover her. He checked her head, instinctively feeling relieved when he did not find any wounds on her. “Wake up, Isla.” She did not respond. His face sank. He quickly carried her out of the bathtub and into the room. Just as he was about to put her on the bed, Isla suddenly grabbed his neck and kissed him. “Hubby!” Isla called out to him while giggling. Noah froze, his face changing. There seemed to be a layer of frost over his face, and his eyes became cold as well. “You lied to me?” His voice was scarily cold. He looked down at her, his dark eyes icy. “Was it fun, isla?” Isla was stunned to see him angry. Guilt flashed through her eyes at once. “I’m sorry, hubby.” She stared at him with her bright eyes and pouted, feeling wronged. “I just want you to care more about me. Why are you being so scary?”
