Chapter 7

Fortunately, Douglas did not have the final say. As such, everyone turned to Bianca. They all looked to her for the decision. "Jules… why would you do this?" She turned to Julian slowly, her eyes full of disappointment and pain. "I told you over and over again that the baby I'm carrying is yours—not Nathan's. There's nothing between us, so why can't you just believe me? Her eyes grew cold. She paused before continuing, "I wanted to stand by you, but what you've done has disappointed me. If I let you walk away without consequences, how can I face my sister?" She raised her voice then. "Take him away. Have him give his blood to my brother-in-law—however much he needs!" And just like that, Julian was dragged away. He kicked and screamed, tears spilling down his cheeks as he cried out in desperation. "I didn't push him! It wasn't me! He fell on purpose! "Bianca! Did you not promise me that you would always believe me no matter what?" he screamed. "I'm telling you now—I didn't do it! Don't you believe me?" He shouted until his throat burned, but Bianca never once looked back. Julian felt the last of his tears dry on his cheeks. He was forced onto the hospital bed while a nurse jabbed a thick needle into his vein. He trembled from the immense pain. Blood was drawn out drip by drip. 200 millimeters. 400 millimeters. 600 millimeters. With every drop that left his body, his strength faded. He felt a deep chill in his bones. His surroundings were deathly silent, and he was all alone now. For a moment, he felt like a child again. His brother was telling him they were going to play a game. His father's belt cracked through the air. His sister threw toys at his head while his mother screamed at him for being selfish. Everyone had someone to lean on. Nathan had their father's love, while his sister had their mother's. Only Julian had nobody. He was the invisible one in the family—the black sheep. Julian thought marriage would change that. He had thought that his wife would always trust him, support him, and love him through it all. But now, she had sent him to hell with her own two hands. … After hours of emergency treatment, Nathan finally stabilized. "Bianca, thank God I'm alive. If not, you and our baby would be left alone to survive in this world. I can't even imagine that happening," he said weakly. "Is our baby okay? Did you rest like the doctor told you to?" Hearing his words, Bianca's expression turned bitter. Painfully, she pulled her hand away from his. "No, you're mistaken," she said. "This is not our child. It's yours and Bethany's."
