In an instant, Eugene's entire vibe turned icy. His cold stare was sharp enough to cut, full—on pissed. "Clara, you wanna divorce me and run off with Frederick? Keep dreaming."
"And what do you even want then?" Clara gripped the blanket tight, jaw clenched and neck veins popping as she yelled back, "You're the one who asked for the divorce! You're the one who stopped caring! Now I'm giving way, letting you be with Ellie, and you still want to make a scene?"
Eugene's lips pressed into a thin line. His fists clenched hard, his gaze straight—up frigid as he pulled out his phone. "Gavin, get to the city hospital right now. Bring the divorce papers."
He said it flat, no hesitation. Once the call ended, he looked at Clara, tone low. "Clara, whatever you're owed, I won't shortchange you."
Soon, Gavin showed up, dropped off the paperwork, and left without a word.
Eugene signed his name without even blinking, then tossed the papers to her. "Go ahead. Sign it."
