Chapter 41

"Would you come back? Come back to the Collins family, okay?" Clara froze. Her whole body tensed up, like she was suddenly paralyzed. Noticing her discomfort, Eugene awkwardly pulled away, stepping back a couple of paces and muttering in frustration, "Forget it, just pretend I didn't say anything." That actually made Clara chuckle bitterly. This guy, seriously... Without another word, Eugene walked out. Clara stood there, stunned for a moment, before turning back to finish washing the dishes. When she was done, she spoke up, "Time for you to leave." But Eugene didn't move. He just slouched deeper into the couch and said in a tone that could only be described as shameless, "Clara, I'm wiped out. Let me chill here just a bit longer." Then he shut his eyes like he was really about to nap. Bathed in the warm light, his face looked almost unreal—like something out of a dream. Clara found herself stepping closer without thinking. She raised her hand and gently started massaging his temples.
