Kathleen sneered. "So, does that mean your mom regrets not marrying you into the family?"
Melanie frowned slightly.
Kathleen continued, "Cut the fake act. Even if we run into each other, there's no need for greetings."
With that, Kathleen turned her back and completely ignored Melanie.
Melanie stared at Kathleen's retreating figure but said nothing more, then left the glasshouse.
Kathleen gritted her teeth. Just then, she heard footsteps again and thought Melanie had come back.
But when she turned around, she saw Shawn entering with her coat in hand.
"Smart girl. You knew it was cold and came inside to take cover," he said, handing her the coat.
Kathleen took it. "Is it over?"
He pulled a chair over and sat down. "Not yet."
She felt annoyed.
"That's not like you," Shawn said, watching her. "You're usually so good at faking it. Why are you acting so rude today, not even bothering to keep up appearances?"
