In an instant, the air in the car became frigid with tension.
Corey was a professional. Kathleen's words didn't even cause a tremor in his hands as he drove on steadily.
Shawn's hands curled slightly against his legs. He couldn't get angry, or Kathleen would think he cared about her and couldn't bear to leave her.
Ultimately, her words brought their conversation to an end.
Corey drove Kathleen home first. After Kathleen exited the car, she thanked Corey politely and even waved Shawn goodbye. Shawn didn't even toss her a glance.
"Let's go." Shawn couldn't be bothered to look at Kathleen.
When Corey drove away, Shawn finally relaxed. He glanced at the time and called Jeremy.
"Where are you?"
"I'm processing your divorce papers."
Shawn frowned.
Jeremy said, "I'm waiting in line. There are five couples ahead of me."
"Couldn't you use your connections?"
"I could." Jeremy said, "I'm free this afternoon anyway. Observing those going through a divorce will be useful to me in the fu
