Chapter 22

"Lorraine, you've got a package. It looks like it came from Brindley." A colleague walked in holding a thick envelope and handed it to Lorraine. Lorraine froze for a moment, then took the envelope and glanced at it. It was Luca who sent it. Her heart skipped a beat, a bad feeling settling in the pit of her stomach. It had been a while since they last met. She was worried he might do something reckless again and give her a headache. She set her work aside and stepped to the side. Inside the envelope were several documents, the titles prominently labeled, "Share Transfer Agreement". Her heartbeat skipped instantly. She could hardly believe it as she picked up the agreement and skimmed through it. The contents were simple. Luca was transferring all his shares in Frey Group to her. Was he seriously transferring billions worth of shares to her just like that? Her hands trembled slightly as she held the agreement. She felt certain there had to be some mistake. Why would Luca do this?
