Joaquin was halfway through his cucumber when he saw Callie stride into Nelson's room and shut the door with a bang.
He tiptoed quickly to the door, trying to listen in, but Kieran grabbed his arm and pulled him away. "Don't be so nosy."

Inside the room, Callie shut out all external gazes and sounds. She stared at Nelson. "I'll say it again, this is my daughter. No matter what reason you give, I won't agree."
The large bedroom was dimly lit by a few wall lamps. Nelson remained calm. "I've never tried to take anything from you. She just wants to sleep with me tonight. You disagree?"
