Chapter 1211: One More Bet
Owen's eyes immediately turned sharp as blades. "Half an hour ago," he muttered.
They had received the news quickly, but not quickly enough to prevent it.
Owen squinted, his gaze following the distant boat as it drifted away. With a cold snort, he hissed, "Nelson, you're playing me."
Over the phone, wind rustled in the background. Nelson sighed. "I only just received the news myself, and I’m far away in Ylosea. How could I have delivered the evidence so quickly? Perhaps you should investigate—it might be an inside leak."
Clever as he was, Owen couldn't trust Nelson easily. He raised his eyes and glanced at Jaquan, who stood on the deck. The morning breeze lifted Jaquan's coat, obscuring his expression.
"Mr. Oconnor," Owen said coldly, "you'll need to do better than cheap divide-and-conquer tricks."
He hung up the phone and immediately dialed another number.
Meanwhile, Jaquan watched as Nelson's boat drew closer. He lowered his binoculars and strode toward the water
