The tea was brewed personally by Sienna, infused with a variety of herbs that gave it a subtly sweet and lingering aftertaste.
“Do you remember the backyard?” she began calmly, a faint smile playing on her lips. “After the incident two years ago, the house was leveled and turned into a vegetable garden. I planted a lot of herbs there—it’s good for health.”
Callie lowered her gaze. “That place should’ve been leveled long ago. It’s better this way.”
“It was the first thing he did after waking up. When he made that decision, I knew he had finally let go.”
Callie understood the implication, though she resisted it. If he had truly let go, why hadn’t he come to see her at the airport two years ago? She scoffed lightly. “Let go of what?”
“His obsession with the past,” Sienna replied. “Callie, things were too extreme back then. We made mistakes. While I can’t ask you to forget about it, I want to say—let’s work together to heal the scars. Can we?”
