After a long while, Whitney's helpless voice came from outside the ward. "Alright, I understand," she said in a low tone.
The heavy burden in Sebastian's chest finally lifted when he heard Whitney's voice. But when he tried to call out to her, he realized his throat had been damaged by the smoke from the fire. He was unable to make a sound due to the pain in his burning throat.
