Chapter 25
Maybe because Tracy rarely saw Sebastian lower himself like this, she gave in for once. She sat back on the hospital bed, took the food container, and opened it. It was oatmeal. The lid had barely come off before the warm, comforting smell filled the air.
"I don't think they sell this around here," she said after a brief pause.
"I made it myself. Ruined a few pots," Sebastian replied casually, with no hint of showing off.
But she knew him well enough to understand what that meant. For someone who had grown up never lifting a finger in the kitchen, cooking even once was no small feat.
Tracy, who was still weak, ate slowly.
The entire time, Sebastian's eyes never left her. Occasionally, she looked up and met his gaze. A strange sense of unreality crept in.
In this short stretch of time, he had shown her more care than he ever had during their two years of marriage. But so what? What did it change?
