Camden drifted through a long, long dream. In it, there had been no car accident, nor had Alice ever lost her sight. Instead, they remained deeply in love and had two adorable, well-behaved, and thoughtful kids. Yet, even in the dream, he felt no happiness, as he knew it was all an illusion. The shock of what had happened to Alice had been so profound that not even his mind's protective fantasies could bring him peace.
