Bernard Jacobson's deep concern for Vivian Donovan struck her as bitterly ironic.
After navigating through the crowd and leaving the The Ivy Grill, Vivian headed to the hospital to visit her parents.

Lilith Whitehead had only sustained a minor head injury with slight bleeding—nothing serious. Simple cleaning, medicating, and bandaging sufficed.
To keep Bernard by her side longer, Lilith instructed the doctor to assign her a VIP ward and admit her for two days of observation.
This hospital belonged to Frederick Whitehead, so the doctor naturally complied with his order.
After finishing her IV drip, Lilith took Bernard's hand, her eyes reddening with wounded pride and sorrow. "Bernard, my parents are on a business trip and won't return until tomorrow. Could you stay and keep me company tonight?"
It was a lie, told solely to make Bernard stay.
Upon hearing this, Bernard frowned slightly, a flicker of impatience in his eyes.
