Chapter 76: The Strong Piper

Piper’s POV I couldn’t help myself anymore and I thought I’d better check on Megan. I grabbed my cell phone from the nightstand and dialed Megan’s number. It rang a few times. “Come on, pick up the phone,” I muttered. How annoying! She wasn’t picking up. I’d better try again. It rang a few times like before. And finally, she picked up my incoming call. I heard her clear her throat twice before answering. “Hello, Megan. Haven’t spoken to you in a while. How are you?” I greeted. “Hi, Piper. I’m fine and well. Thanks for asking. Oh, congratulations on your pregnancy. I hope you and your baby are doing well,” she replied. There was the faint sound of someone whispering next to her and the sound of waves. Was Megan not in her apartment? “Thank you. Am I disturbing you? You don’t seem to be in the room?” I asked curiously. That’s right, it’s the sound of waves crashing and a strong wind blowing. Megan was not indoors. She was by the sea or on a boat. Maybe she was on vacation.
