Tristan drove straight back to the company and headed for Riley's office.
When he pushed open the door, he was ready with his excuse. "Riley, I already ended things with Scarlett—"
The words got caught in his throat.
Riley's desk had been cleared spotless, cleaner even than the day he and Scarlett had used this room to chase a thrill.
Almost without thinking, Tristan pulled open a drawer.
He found a document. The title at the top read, "Divorce Agreement."
He froze, then flipped it open.
On the last page, his signature stared back at him, unmistakable and real.
The date was three days ago.
His eyes widened in disbelief.
That funding request for the western suburb project...
That day, when Riley was supposed to be away on a business trip in Valeris, but she suddenly showed up and had him sign some documents.
He was so distracted by what Scarlett was doing under the desk that he hadn't even looked before he signed.
