Chapter 01

There was a funeral being held at the Su family house. The Su family was one of the three richest families in Yuncheng. The funeral of Charles Su was a gathering of rich and powerful people. The most powerful families attended to give their condolences and take opportunities. In the noisy venue, the appearance of a girl in a white T-shirt caught everyone's attention. The people who came to the funeral were rich and they all wore expensive black suits and dresses. Although the girl was exquisite and beautiful, the white T-shirt she wore was too cheap. The shirt she wore even had a hole in it, she looked out of place among the elite families. Someone among the crowd couldn't help but ask curiously, "Who is she and why is she here?" "I'm pretty sure that is one of Grandfather Su's granddaughters, the one who was removed from the family. Apparently, she was called back by Grandfather Su before he died." "He wanted his last will and testament to be read aloud during his funeral, it's one of the main reasons why there are so many people attending. She must have been called here to claim an inheritance or something." The girl didn't realize she had become the center of attention among the guests, her eyes were calm and she looked straight ahead. Her delicate little face had a calm stoic expression that wasn't appropriate for her age. Her gaze had been focused on the photo of Charles that stood in the center of the venue. No one knew what she was thinking at the moment. The most favored daughter of the Su family, when Ruby Su saw Marian Su's appearance, she couldn't help but complain to her mother, who was sitting beside her. "Mom, what's the matter with her? Grandpa passed away, she has to pretend to cry even if she isn't sad. What will the media think when they capture her face on camera? We should change her clothes, people might think we're abusing her." After hearing the complaint from her youngest daughter, Sheryl Ye, the youngest wife of the Su family, frowned tightly. She felt that her youngest daughter had some truth in what she said. Marian showed no feelings at all, she was upset for only a day when she came back. For now she decided to wait, there were too many eyes watching them. Once the funeral was over she had planned to send her back to the countryside, she had hoped to forget about her after that. Sheryl raised her eyes and she saw her husband appear, and she comforted her little daughter in a low voice, "Oh, your daddy is here. Marian can be dealt with later, this comes first." No matter how dissatisfied, Ruby couldn't show it in public, she could only swallow it and keep it bottled up for now. No one noticed, Marian who was still staring straight at the photo smiled slightly and she even let out a light chuckle. She had amazing hearing and she knew that the Su family didn't like her. She could hear her mother's voice even if she had been whispering the whole time. She kept staring at the picture of her grandfather, but this time there was a hidden sadness in her eyes. Christian Su slowly stepped onto the stage. He first gave a long speech about the greatness of his father, then he announced that his last will and testament will be read aloud. It wasn't a surprise, many people already knew about it. Charles only had two children, it wasn't hard to think about which child would inherit his property. The one thing that was a mystery to them was why Charles wanted to announce publicly in the first place, did he want to make a big show while he was dead? Charles' most trusted lawyer then walked up to the stage and started reading his last will and testament. "After careful consideration, I, Charles Su, have decided to hand over all the shares and real estate of Su's enterprise and the five hundred million Yuan currency in Swiss bank accounts to my granddaughter, Marian Su." Upon hearing the first statement the entire audience was in an uproar. Even members of the Su family were shocked to hear it. Marian was going to inherit everything? Why? Charles was the one who sent her to the countryside when she was just a child. Does she even know what to do with that money? The crowd had concerned looks in their eyes and some had their mouths open in pure shock. Marian kept a straight face, it was as if she didn't care about the five hundred million she was going to inherit. Her gaze was still locked on the photo of her grandfather. She opened her lips lightly and her voice was inaudible. "What do you want from me, old man?"
