Charlotte's voice remained cold and steady as she spoke.
"Three years ago, the Haverfield freight project. Two years ago, the bidding project in Stonefield. Those deals earned your family over one hundred million dollars. Consider that payment in full for 20 years of raising me. As for the emotional debt…"
Her tone turned sharper, edged with sarcasm. "Back then, one of you was too busy working while the other was busy socializing with the wives of wealthy families. I would hardly call that parenting, let alone an investment. So, I owe you nothing."
The words struck hard. Louis froze in place, disbelief written across his face. "What did you just say? How would you know about those two projects?"
Charlotte gave a soft, mocking laugh but offered no explanation. "And how do you think I know about them?"
The color drained from Louis' face. His voice lowered, filled with shock. "You're saying those projects happened because of you?"
