Brian rushed downstairs, planning to catch up with Charlotte and walk her out. But even though he moved fast, she was already gone by the time he reached the restaurant entrance. Maryanne followed behind him and called out, "Brian, let's head out together." Realizing it was just Maryanne, he didn't refuse. He told Henry to bring the car around. Once they got in, Maryanne noticed he hadn't said a word, so she asked, "You've met Char before today, haven't you?" Brian didn't deny it. Maryanne wasn't surprised. She had already picked up on it from what happened earlier in the restaurant. She knew exactly how Brian was. Since when did he ever stick up for someone like that? With a knowing smile, she asked, "So, what are your thoughts?" Brian pressed his lips together and replied blandly, "I don't have any thoughts." "Oh, please. You can't fool me." Maryanne saw right through him and chuckled. "If you didn't care, then why'd you speak up for her back there? That's not like you." Bri
