Chapter 8

Jared’s head kept repeating that everything that Hebe said, and these almost drove him crazy, Jared though that all he suffered was what he wanted it. He knew exactly that Hebe was not lying which meant that he hurt his sister-the biggest mistake he made. He treated her so bad, but she still cared about him, leave a family for him, even leave a letter that could make him feel comfort. Look what he did to his only sibling, he even didn’t give her what his father told him. And he was convinced that he was right all the time, she was acted the actress starring in his bad dreams. In the end, he was the origin of her nightmare. For the first time, Jared was so glad that his father wasn’t by his side to see how kind of person he become, a person who was selfish and stupid. He doesn’t know where his sister was, what to do and where he should go to find her. She was gone and he don’t know would she come back again. He may lose her forever. This thought reminded him of the day his father died. Jared couldn’t smell and feel him in the pack territory. And he thought that his sister even hasn’t shift, what would she do to protect herself if the rogue got to her? Whether she could be alive? She is so young that she hasn’t meet her mate yet. He should have gone to the hell for all the mistakes him made. Jared was desperate, he has been looking for Ingrid all day, but only nothing to find. He tried to ask other people, no one knew where she was. Who could help him? -You knew you are wrong- He didn’t give his wolf any response. -Come on Jared. I have told you thousands of times not to treat sister like that. But have you heard me once? You ever realize it was her 18th birthday when you mess up with others in Sean’s party. – Jared’s heart was shot by his wolf’s voice bullet. How did I not notice His baby sister turned 18? How did him not notice this vital stuff? He forgot her birthday! Jared could not help walking back and forth. He had a worst idea that she found her mate and they ran away together. He got up from the couch and ran to his phone and quickly called his best friend. "Hey Jared?" Sean answered the phone. "Sean, did any leave the pack today?" "No. Why do you want to know?" "I don’t know what I should do, I…" Jared was cried even if he tried to control himself. "Wait for me, I am on my way." Jared sat on the floor, just let his tear go. Few minutes later, Sean knocked on his door and Jared knew who it was, so he stood up, making his way to the door. Jared shut the door and threw himself on the couch next to Sean. They didn't say anything just staring at the TV. Only they knew that what was hid in their bottom of their hearts. "What's up with you?" Jared noticed that Sean’s hair was messier than the usual. "Don't mention it." He says leaning backwards whist rubbing his face. Jared faced towards he and saw a questioning look on Sean’s face that he never shows. Knowing that Sean has been through a lot, Jared doesn’t want to ask him or blame him. Because Jared know exactly that Sean hates pity. So, he has been acting a serious male, but this doesn’t mean that he is not fun. He is a humorous person when he supposed to be, sometimes he would say his innermost feelings when he is drunk. "What about you?" Sean snatched the beer from Jared’s hands. "I met my mate." Jared said with a sigh. Sean tense up, waiting for him to continue. "And she rejected me." Sorrow showed. "Well." was all he said before staring at the TV again. "Yeah." Silence in the air. "I am sorry to hear that, Jared." "Yeah... but I maybe alone in my rest of my life." "Do you know the reason why she rejected you?" Sean looked at Jared with a small forced smile. "No, no idea." Jared shook his head. "Alright, who is she? Did she have a boyfriend? Wait… is that why you asked if any left the pack?" "You know…Hebe…" "Wait…Hebe? The Hebe?" He asked with a sudden interest. "Yeah, the Hebe. Have you known how hot she has gotten...”? "OK, ok, I doubt it. Why did she reject you?" "Man, I am really regret about what I did." Jared held his head. "What do you mean?" Sean frowned. "I guess that she rejected me because of the way I treated Ingrid." Hearing the Ingrid, Sean tensed up a bit as if he reminds of something. "Ingrid hid the reason why my father is gone to protect me. She and Hebe caught my mother cheated on my father. She was kissing another male. Ingrid told my father and… she didn’t want me to lose my mother, so she didn’t tell me. But I… I thought she was the one to blame for my father’s death. "Wait what? What did you say?" He placed his foot back to the floor from couch. He leans closer. "You may continue..." He said. "That day I heard that she was crying, and I knew something happened because she never cried, I once thought she was crying for boy… and dad asked her what happened, but I missed some details. Then he was going for a walk required me taking care of Ingrid. But I didn’t… Dad told me…" "Jared darling." A female's voice said. The one who cheated on Jared’s father. Both Sean and Jared jumped up at the same time. Jared was furious about everything. He couldn’t control his sudden anger, feeling the blood rushing through veins and heart beating. Jared never realized so clearly that his mother had been pretending to be a victim. She was the one to blame! "Listen to me, dude, you need to calm down. " The high pitch voice said again. She walked in the front of the room standing in a nice dress. God knew where she had gone. Jared was trying so hard to not completely shift, because he really wanted to slap her or even kill her on the spot. Fortunately, Sean was pulling him back. "Oh my god, what's going on here." "You bitch." "Relax bro." Sean said as he pulled Jared away from her. "I am going to kill you. It's all you fucking fault." "Calm the fuck down, you bastard!" Sean yells using his alpha voice. His mother tried to walk closer to her son, but she saw that Jared just took a step back. "How dare you approach me." Jared screamed. "Jared, what on Earth is going on with you?" She asks. The look on her face made Jared wanted to smack. All the time, she was trying to be an innocent person which was the point why Jared couldn’t hold back his growls. "If you don’t want to be a good mother, a loyal wife, you could get out of here instead of pretend nothing happened." Jared folded his arms and looked at her. "Excuse me, I have no idea what you are talking about. " She was lying again. "I can’t believe that there is a person who cheat on their husband, their own soul mate and allow their own child take the blame, be treated like shit. Do you believe it, Sean?" Sean shook his head. His mother's face was priceless. "How can you hide that you cheated on dad? As a mother, I can’t believe that you let Ingrid cover for you. I wonder how you feel when you see your daughter get treated like a lap dog. What kind of a mother are you!" "She is the one to blame. Your father didn't have to find out if she kept her mouth shut! We could be a family as we used to be!" She yelled out. "Ingrid done all the thing she could do as a daughter. These things were something she didn't have to do which were you should have done." Sean chose to protect his sister, Ingrid. "I think you should leave." Jared finally said what he wanted. "Why? You can't kick me out. I am your mother!" She couldn’t believe it. "I wouldn’t allow a bitch in my pack." "Darling, don't do this to me. I promise that I won't see him again. I can’t leave, I have nowhere to go." She begs walking closer and closer to Jared. "I swear you don’t want to see what will happen if you take another step." Jared can't believe he once called her mother. Hugged her, kissed her on the cheeks and told her that she was the best mummy in the world. He did make a mistake which was unforgiveable. Jared thought she wasn't crying, wasn't mourning on his father’s funeral. "Now you get a chance, leave the town. Go away with that man you cheated dad on. I will kill you If I see you again. The one thing that you need to remember is that I mean it." Jared splats out. "Jared, please. I'm your mother." "You can’t find a mother who let her child cover for her in this world." "I never loved your father." "But this isn’t the reason you cheated on him. You didn't love my father, but you had the chance to break up with him. You had chance to have a conversation with him. But you refused. And now, you have no chance to choose. " "I didn't want to be the person who broke this family." She cries out. "Yeah, you and I are two broke this family." Jared shout. "Ingrid is gone. Dad is dead. We are not the family." Jared almost whispered as his voice became weak. "Just go!" Jared said sounding like he was a broke little boy. "Jared-" She never gave up. "JUST FUCKING GO!" Jared roared out finally. She realized that her son did mean it, so she quickly grabbed her pack and run out of the house. Sean put his hands in Jared’s shoulder. At that moment, Jared tasted the saltines of his tears. The bitter feeling in my guts burned in the flame. Jared was truly alone now. "Just leave me alone, Sean. I just going to go to my room." Jared walked upstairs slowly, opened his bedroom door and he noticed there was a note left on his bed. The first thought that came into Jared’s mind was at that Ingrid left that letter. He jumped to bed and quickly held the letter. It was definitely Ingrid who left this note. He can spot his sister’s handwriting from a long distance. When he wrote this letter, his gaze blurred. Jared haven't cried since father pasted away, even then he barely cried. For many years he has treated his sister like shit, all he got from her was respect and kindness. How could he become a person who let dad down and that hurt him the most. Who should pay everything for breakdown of the family? Only now he noticed it was himself. "She left this letter." Jared noticed that Sean came in and he handed him the letter and let a big breath out. After he finished reading it. He placed it on the bed without saying anything. "I'm actually alone. I'm such a fool!" "Yeah, you're a fool." He agrees. "But you are not alone. You got me and don't think you're only reason why Ingrid left... I mean, she dealt with you for four years. I'm sure she could have dealt with you a bit longer. You might be part of the reason but not all." "I am still a reason. I-I don't even know what to do. I don't deserve to be your beta. I-" "Jared. Trust me I know how that feels. I know how that feels. Listen to me Jared, here is no one else who deserves this title more than you. You would always be my beta." Jared nodded and asked to be alone. Sean nodded and left without saying another word.
